Born in Ohio and raised in Texas, I am Zachary Rilley, a recent graduate of The Ohio State University, class of May 2023, with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Affairs Journalism and a minor in Media Production and Analysis. My academic journey ignited a profound passion for the art of visual storytelling through photography and videography, which I have pursued ardently since my freshman year in Columbus.
Presently, I operate as a dedicated freelance photographer and videographer based in the Columbus, Ohio area. I've had the privilege of collaborating with esteemed brands such as The Premier Lacrosse League (PLL), The Lantern, Zillow Media Group, and HR Imaging. These experiences have exposed me to a diverse spectrum of photographic and video assignments, refining my proficiency in areas ranging from intricate studio lighting to expert model direction.
Beyond my professional commitments to these reputable entities, I also provide freelance photography services throughout the Columbus metropolitan area, catering to an assortment of client needs, from sophisticated graduation sessions to captivating headshots and engagement photos.
My previous roles include serving as The Photo Editor for The Lantern, the student newspaper of Ohio State University, and as a Photo and Video Intern with The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR). My tenure with the university's prestigious publication underscored the paramount importance of meticulous organization and a keen eye for detail. Capturing the full spectrum of Ohio State athletics, from the high stakes of football games to the understated excellence of field hockey, I adeptly navigated the intricacies of fast-paced, hectic environments, showcasing my ability to excel under pressure. The internship with ODNR enriched my expertise in video production, encompassing sophisticated audio capture and manipulation techniques, as well as the art of visual storytelling through dynamic clips that propel narratives forward.
Outside of my professional pursuits, I indulge in street photography, maintain an active running regimen, and relish the opportunity to explore the outdoors, venturing from the vibrant streets of New Dehli to the picturesque landscapes of San Diego.
At this juncture, I am enthusiastically seeking full-time employment within an organization that shares my zeal for crafting visually captivating content.
